April Lockhart

April Lockhart is a born on July 4th in 1995. When she was in the 7th grade, she started taking piano and guitar lessons. It was this that ignited her love to write songs. At the age of 12, she composed her first single Different. When she was 14 April spent a lot of her time singing and writing songs. Then, she began taking trips in NY and LA with her Dad in order for them both write songs. April started to include other subjects in the book, Take My Hand, for the people in her life who are struggling in the face of peer pressure, disability or suicide. Lockhart has become a sought-after lifestyle influencer as well as working in partnerships with clean-cut beauty brands Ilia, has built a large following. She was not born with a left hand, and that is what makes her what she is. It's just not the full story. The account on Instagram of Lockhart doesn't deny the fact that she has a disability. It also doesn't make it a point to emphasize it. What's the message? This is the message That we all carry many identities, we're far more complicated than we believe we're. Lockhart in a video message sent from her Nashville home, says that I do not want my physical appearance to define me. I'm much more than my physical self. It doesn't impact my daily activities. I go about doing my job as normal and have developed different ways of adapting. But, I consider it a very important part of myself. Lockhart is a great example of how to stay moving forward with self-acceptance. She admits that she's been through periods of being uncomfortable with her body, at times, being unsure about wearing specific types of clothes that showed the arms of her. Nowadays, she dresses whatever she wants and posts pictures of herself in these outfits on social networks with a sense of pride. She says that self-love is a journey. It's hard to say if you'll ever reach the final stage. However, that is common for anyone that is prone to doubts. The people around you with that truly understand you and see inside your soul are the most important people to help you remember what you're worried about.
